The Smokeout Cafe


We created this game in collaboration with NetPlus Marketing, for the American Cancer Society. The game was used as a vehicle for viral marketing, to spread the word about the 2004 Great American Smokeout event and to promote the sale of the LiveFree.SmokeFree wristbands. We helped strengthen this message and goal by designing a game whose central element was those very same wristbands.


Donald Distasio, Chief Executive Officer, American Cancer Society, Eastern Division, commented in a later press release, "The American Cancer Society relies on the generosity and expertise of corporations to further its reach into our communities. The innovative design work of Singularity and the marketing expertise of NetPlus were integral to the success of our Livefree.Smokefree website. Due in large part to the popularity of the Smokeout Café game, our promotional supply of wrist bands -- which we expected to last a month or more -- was exhausted in less than a week! It has been successful beyond our expectation and couldn't have happened without Singularity and NetPlus working with us to help spread the message of the Great American Smokeout."
